VP of Clinical Objectives(Antwain Allen: MSN, BS, FNP-C)
Antwain is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. He received a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Western Michigan University, a second bachelor’s degree in nursing from William Jewell College and a master’s degree in Nursing with a focus in Family Medicine from Kaplan University. Antwain is from the Southside of Chicago, where he was born and raised. His foundation for wanting to help and serve others started at a young age. He was raised most of his childhood by a single mother, who at times worked three jobs to provide. Observing his parent’s drive, set the tone for his personal and professional drive. Antwain’s home-life consists of his three beautiful children and one furry child. They are the fuel that he needs daily to keep moving forward.
The sense of creating joy and producing growth in others, led Antwain to a career in health care. Antwain started his health care career over 15 years ago. He has served in many different medical positions within hospitals and outpatient centers. Antwain specializes in emergency medicine, caring for patients with many different types of illnesses. Antwain has experience in large hospitals and small community hospitals. Antwain currently practices as a certified nurse practitioner in emergency medicine. Antwain possesses the critical thinking skills and medical experience needed to lead our team of health care professionals as we deliver efficient patient care daily. As a team, we are excited and honored to care for any patient that walks through the doors of Helping Hands.
VP of Operations (Glyn Hawkins: AA)
A Kalamazoo, MI native with principles of Hard Work, Service, and Caring for others. Glyn has over 10 years of experience in public service. He is currently employed with the City of Kalamazoo as a Public Safety Officer. Glyn earned his associate degree at Kalamazoo Valley Community College majoring in Arts and Science. Glyn strives to make a positive impact with those he encounters daily. He strongly believes that although people come from all walks of life, treating them fairly with dignity and respect is most important. He is an active member throughout the Kalamazoo community. Glyn is dedicated to the Helping Hands mission of holistic approach and enjoys catering the acute needs of the patients served.
Medical Director (Matt Scarff: MD)
Matthew Scarff grew up in Michigan, Nebraska and Ohio. He graduated from Troy High School, Troy Ohio in 1977. He then attended Capital University in Columbus, Ohio graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1981 with a Bachelor of the arts in chemistry. He next attended medical school in Toledo, Ohio, graduating in 1985 with a doctorate of medicine degree from what was then the Medical College of Ohio, now the University of Toledo. His post graduate training was at Bronson Methodist and Borgess Hospitals where he was in the Internal Medicine and Pediatrics program. He worked as a nurses aid during the summers when he was in college. After postgraduate training he was employed for the next 17years by Kalamazoo Emergency Physicians working in the ED's at Borgess Pipp Community Hospital, Three Rivers Area Hospital and Lakeview Hospital in Paw Paw. He also worked as an independent contractor in the ED's at Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac Michigan, South Haven Community and Vicksburg Bronson Hospital. For the last 17 years he has provided emergency services at Spectrum Health Pennock Hospital, initially as an independent contractor and then in 2006, he formed Hastings Emergency Physicians PLC with 4 other partners. He continues to work in the ED at the Spectrum Health Pennock to this day.
He has served as the medical director at Borgess Pipp Hospital. He has also served as the medical director for Allegan County Medical Control Authority. He is currently the Trauma Program Director at Spectrum Health Pennock and Project Medical Director for the Barry County Medical Control Authority. Matt has been a volunteer in several community projects in the township where he has resided for the past 32 years and been involved over the years with the Otsego Public Schools giving various presentations and providing community services. He has coached youth football, Little League and Travel Baseball for many years.
Matt is married and has 5 children and 4 step children and 1 grandchild. He lives in Alamo Michigan.
Medical Science Liaison / Physician Owner (Brian Queen: MD)
I have been an Emergency Medicine physician since 2014. I graduated from Michigan State Medical school in 2011 and completed my residency in 2014. I was certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine in 2015. I currently practice in Hastings, MI where I have been since 2014.
My wife and I stay busy at home with our 5 children. I also spend time leading worship at my local church playing acoustic guitar and singing. My other interests include Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, scuba diving and traveling.
I have a passion for the underserved in medicine both locally and internationally. I have spent time in Malawi, Africa learning and practicing the art of 3rd world medicine and serving those who have limited medical access. I am particularly interested in addiction medicine as I believe addiction is a leading health crisis in the United States. As a physician, I have an obligation to my patients to limit addiction potential and to help them battle their addiction utilizing multiple resources.
I am excited to be a part of expanding medicine in West Michigan. As a group, we hope to increase medical access, improve medical quality and improve the overall patient experience.

Director of Healthcare Systems (Mia Willhite: MBA, MHA, JM, FACHE, CMPE)
Results driven, healthcare executive with over 15 years of strategy and operational experience. Mia, currently serves as the Vice President of Practice Operations for the Physician Services Division at Providence Health located in Columbia, SC. She has a strong background in lean leadership, business development and comprehensive financial practices. She earned a bachelor’s in managerial science and a master’s in healthcare administration and master’s in business administration from Georgia State University, located in Atlanta Georgia prior to earning a Juris Master of Health Law from Emory University School of Law located in Atlanta, Georgia. Mia prides herself on the art of relationship mastery and works daily to positively impact organizational culture and increase patient satisfaction scores. With a successful track record of managing regional service lines, inpatient and outpatient operations Mia promotes inclusive, high quality care and offers her knowledge, experience and servant leadership mentality to Helping Hands Urgent Care.
Director of Finance (James, Wilson: MBA)
James Wilson is Director of Business Intelligence and Analytics Services for Outrigger Hospitality Group. Outrigger Hospitality Group is one of the fastest-growing, privately-held hospitality companies in the Asia Pacific, Oceania and Indian Ocean regions. An entrepreneurial outlook and sound business practices have driven the successful growth of Outrigger Hospitality Group for over 70 years.
In 2018, Outrigger was recognized repeatedly across several mediums as the #1 Family Resort. Such sources included Delta Vacations, Pacific Business News, Hotelplanner.com, Travel Weekly and AAA to name a few. Annually the company continues to be recognized as a brand of excellence.
Driven by technological advances, James is passionate about technologies that can be implemented to make every day work simplified. For the past year, James has been diligently working to restructure Outriggers data architecture which in turn has allowed for efficient data mining and interpretation. One program that has helped the success of his efforts is Microsoft Power BI.
James loves the outdoors, therefore at every opportunity you can find James biking across the Island of Oahu, hiking or at the beach. James also have a deep passion for traveling and travels as time permits.
Director of Cultural Development (Tim Terrentine: MS)

change through strategic planning, talent and leadership development, diversity (difference) and
inclusion strategies, business development, employee engagement and other challenges facing
companies and individuals in today’s ever-changing marketplace.
Tim’s passion and executive experience is recognized by the boards of organizations on which
he has served, including but not limited to Kalamazoo Ready 4’s, the Governor’s Office of
Metropolitan and Urban Initiatives, the Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine, Old National
Bank and others.
Tim now serves as a consultant at HUMANeX ventures and continues to speak, emcee and
facilitate important conversations that move people and culture forward.
Director of Clinical Direction (Maricia Solmes: BSN, RN)
Marcia is the Director of Clinical Direction for Helping Hands Urgent Care. Marcia became a registered nurse in the State of Michigan, after attending the University of Illinois-Chicago where she received her bachelor’s in nursing. Marcia was raised on a ranch in eastern Montana, from her earliest recollection she has wanted to be a nurse. Watching her father care for people and animals challenged her to bring that same caring to those around her. Her father was an inspiration to her as she completed her nursing degree while living in Chicago and raising 3 small children. Her children are adults now with 5 grandchildren. Marcia brings 20 yrs. of nursing experience through various positions. For the last 10 years of her 30-year career Marcia took on the role of Nurse Manager in the Urgent Care at Pennock. She has recently retired from that role and now works per diem. Marcia has an interest in maintaining a cutting-edge perspective as Helping Hands Urgent Care steps into the business of providing care for patients, families and community.
Director of Community Engagement & Emotional Trauma (Chris Pompey: MS, BS)
Chris brings years of non-profit and management experience. Chris was born and raised in the inner city of Baltimore, MD. Currently, Chris is finishing his formal education through Purdue Global University, Masters’ of Psychology with a concentration in Addictions. Chris understands the pit of addiction after overcoming his own addiction. Chris attributes his freedom from addiction to his rededication to Christ 15 years ago. Growing up and seeing the devastation of what addiction does to a community has caused a burning desire to see others free. Once a part of the problem he is relentless to help others get free from addiction. Chris shares, “I feel helping others is a calling not a duty.” When not working, Chris can be found spending time with his family, as he states it is his main priority. Chris is married with four adult children and four beautiful grandchildren. Chris also shares that his faith in Christ is the core of his existence.
